When I think of summer, I immediately think VACATION! Traveling is a huge part of my life, spending time with family and friends all across the states. Packing is often the most dreaded part of any trip, but it doesn’t have to be if you keep a couple key tricks in mind.
First, make a list - mentally or write it out - of the events/activities that you’ll be a part of. If there is anything that requires special clothing, shoes, outside of normal day-to-day looks, you’ll want to be sure to pack those first. You might not always have a shortcut there.
For the rest of your packing, look to pack pieces that have multiple purposes. Versatility is your friend. items that can go casual/dressy. simple black dresses that can be dressed up with jewelry, shoes, and a change of makeup.
Find packable fabrics! Items that won’t wrinkle, are made of patterned fabrics that won’t show wrinkles, and aren’t bulky. No one wants to spend a ton of time waiting at the baggage claim, or worse, losing items to the airlines, so if you can keep things in the carry-on you’ll save yourself some hassle.
This POSH Herve Leger bodycon dress is a great posh pack away item! Perfect for an exciting event and doesn’t require a garment bag, just what you need for your getaway. It’s structured fabric is easily packable, so you don’t need to worry about pressing or steaming upon arrival.
This BCBG Drape Strapless dress is an example of a patterned dress that would conceal wrinkles that happen if packed tightly in a bag. And while it’s obviously gorgeous and formal, I can see it actually being dressed down with a jean jacket and casual sandals for another look.
Finding functional accessories is key to making your travels smooth, especially if you’re traveling by air. I like to find a smaller clutch-type style (even better if it can serve as a wallet as well) to use for nights out or when you only need a few items. Then, I can just tuck it in a larger bag for general use. This Minkee Blue bag is perfect for travel with multiple perfectly placed pockets for stashing travel essentials.
And it’s always fun to bring some new character to a new location outside of home. What better way than with a fun, chic hat!
