Let's talk the biggest event of the year. You know, the one you woke up in the middle of the night for, with millions of other people, hoping to get a glimpse of the future duchess and her duke, pre-ceremony. Of course we are turning the royal wedding into a red carpet event. Not only are we swooning over how much Prince Harry tended to Meghan Markle the whole ceremony- from the lip bite to the "You look amazing, I'm so lucky." exchange....wow! However, we are also swooning over a select few outfits we saw on the way down the aisle. From bold prints to deep hues, the event of the year surely did not disappoint.
Let's start with the bride, of course. Markle's dress was a handmade, boatneck piece, designed by none other than Clare Waight Keller, art director at the House of Givenchy. The bride channeled a classic Audrey Hepburn as she floated past her guests, down the aisle toward her prince. Let's not forget that silk tulle vail that made her look so angelic. To top it off, that tiara! Markle's tiara has been in the royal family for generations. It is a piece with so much meaning behind it and definitely completed the look. The tiara consisted of diamonds set in platinum. As if that does not make it special enough, it once belonged to Queen Mary.
Moving on to the other duchess, Kate Middleton. She donned a summery pale yellow Alexander McQueen piece, a dress she previously wore and paired it with an infamous over-the-top floral hat. Elaborate fascinators make for quite the conversation! She also had darling flower girl, little Charlotte, close by during most photo ops. That's one cute accessory.
Now that we have covered the royal ladies, let's move on to some of those red carpet guests. A queen of fashion, herself, Victoria Beckham was in the (royal) house. She wore a navy cape dress with a matching hat and veil of her own label. Loving that! Our favorite thing about this outfit might have to be the bold, red pumps. We like how she chose one of her pieces to pop. Oh and she brought David Beckham, so there's an accessory!
Amal Clooney is up next! She wore a golden-yellow Stella McCartney ensemble-a great summertime display. She paired her dress with a matching hat with attached veil. The dress definitely had an elegant shape to it.
Another (personal) favorite was Carey Mulligan's fresh, free-spirited floral look. Her dress, an Erdem piece, was partly sheer and doused in multicolor flora prints-elegant in such a simple way. Mulligan paired her floral frock with grey suede heels and a white clutch. Her bright red lipstick was truly the cherry on top.
I saved the best for last and it's a bonus! Meghan Markle's reception dress. Markle wore a Stella McCartney piece for the evening events. She also paid tribute to the late Princess Diana, by wearing her aquamarine ring as an accessory.
There were so many memorable looks from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's special day, it's difficult for us to only pick just a few. We (and many others) will be reflecting on the beautiful day for years to come. All the best to the royal couple!
