“Sunglasses are much more than a summer fashion statement- they are a necessity to preserve the health of your eyes.  Don’t get us wrong, sunglasses should tie your entire look together.  They are undoubtedly the first thing others will see when they look at you.  For this reason, they should reflect your style whether it’s funky, sophisticated, understated, or brighter than the sun itself.  In short, they should reflect who YOU are.  However, it would be short-sighted to turn a blind eye to the health benefits high-quality sunglasses deliver.

The sun can cause serious damage to your eyes, and sunglasses are your single best defensive mechanism. Well-made protective eye wear can protect your eyes from 99-100% of harmful UVA and UVB rays. Did you know the outer layer of your eye can get a sunburn, much like your skin?  A few hours in the sun without sunglasses can make it more difficult for the eyes to adapt to darkness, and can impair your ability to drive during night hours. Eventually, prolonged sun damage can lead to cataracts, benign growths, macular degeneration, photokeratitis and other issues that can cause temporary or permanent vision loss and even skin cancer on the eyelids.
